AEMT

ICEMT is pleased to announce that we will now be teaching the 2011 Curriculum Advanced EMT course (AEMT). This new Advanced course incorporates the entire existing curriculum including:

IV cannulation
IV fluid therapies
Drawing peripheral blood samples
Advanced airway procedures

With the addition of the new medication therapies, the 2011 AEMT will be trained to administer certain medications to a critical patient. The AEMT will have an in-depth understanding of the principals of pharmacology as well as a deeper understanding of cardiology and advanced airway procedures.

At ICEMT, we expect our students to be proficient in their skills and knowledge once they complete our course. That is why we have expanded on the standing requirements that are in place from the Idaho EMS Bureau and are requiring over 170 hours of clinical rotations where the student will be working as a member of the healthcare team in several different hospital departments as well as on an ambulance.

The AEMT course lasts approximately 6 months, meeting two nights a week with additional days as requested by the course Instructor.

The following items are required to enroll and are included in course tuition:

  • AEMT Course
  • AEMT Textbook
  • Uniform Shirt
  • Physical Examination
  • Stethoscope/Sphygmomanometer

Course Prerequisites:

  • 18 years or older by course completion
  • High School/GED completion
  • Current Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer CPR card
  • Current EMT certification or completion within 30 days of start of class
  • Completed AEMT Agreement.
